Becoming an optician is a challenging but rewarding journey. You will learn a variety of skills in the store and a wide range of knowledge at the vocational school. If you are interested in the following topics, let us start to building your future together!

Information about apprenticeship

The duration of the apprenticeship is 3 years

Once a week you will attend the vocational school in Zürich, Bern, Olten, Lausanne or Cannobio. At the school you will learn about the theoretical part and in the store you will be supervised on the practical part of your education.

In addition to the vocational school you will attend the course center for opticians in Starrkirch in Olten or Lausanne. At the course center you will deepen your practical skills throughout your apprenticeship. Each course unit lasts one week.

Apprenticeship positions are open for young talents who have successfully finished the obligatory school.

At VisilabGroup we support our apprentices if they want to pursue a vocational school leaving certificate in parallel with the apprenticeship.

Higher professional education

After a successful apprenticeship, opticians can attend the University of Applied Science of North-West Switzerland to obtain the professional title of an Optometrist FH (BSc). The VisilapGroup encourages people to continue their education and offer support on this journey. The following list shows what an optometrist is enabled to perform and the requirements for acceptance at the school.

Cost sharing

The VisilabGroup offers an exceptional level of education and, additionally, we  share the costs with our apprentices (e.g. travel, material and working clothes) and pay out success fees.
